About me

Navigating Wellness Through Hashimoto’s and Midlife
I’m Isabella, nice to meet you.
I’m 47, a mother of two, self-employed, and I’ve been living with Hashimoto’s disease and an underactive thyroid for around 15 years.
I’ve always been interested in health and wellbeing, and that combined with the fact that I’ve found my autoimmune condition debilitating at times, means I’ve learned a lot over the years. There are so many things I wish I’d been told sooner, and while I find writing them down quite therapeutic, I’m also hoping that by sharing them they might be of help to you.
I’m not a doctor, and this isn’t an advisory website. It’s a collection of things I’ve learned through my own experiences. I certainly don’t have all the answers, and I’m still learning all the time.
What I do know is that these days I’m much better at being fair and kind to myself. I’ve learned a lot about treating my body well as a whole, managing my energy, recognising my limits and letting go of some of the unrealistic expectations I used to place on myself. I’ve discovered the things that have helped me and the things that haven’t, and I’m writing them down here for you to take or leave as you wish.
There’s a lot I didn’t know about Hashimoto’s disease and my underactive thyroid when I was first diagnosed, and I’ve since realised that many people are in the same boat. My hope is that by sharing what I’ve learned, I can help provide more knowledge, more questions to ask and more confidence to advocate for your own health.
Most of all, I hope this becomes a place of comfort and reassurance if you’re overwhelmed or having a bad day.
Thank you for coming.
Isabella
